Thrilled at this review of Ordnance

 Great movements

This book tackles a difficult subject. In warfare the logistics of moving men is always a challenge. The concomitant movement of ordnance and other supplies is as equally difficult if not more so.
The difficulty for any author dealing with this topic is to make it interesting. Here, it must be said, Hamlin Williams succeeds.
He takes the reader on a journey from the beginning of world war 1 to its ultimate conclusion and what a vivid picture he produces. He refrains from the usual ‘touch on briefly before dwelling on at length’ technique and gives the reader a clear and lively insight into the task which presented itself and how that task was mastered.
Certainly there is a plethora of facts to be gleaned from this volume but they are interspersed with touching and poignant stories of humanity.
Whether you are a professional historian or a fireside enthusiast this book has much to offer.
I recommend it. It is certainly interesting and worth reading.
